The English Distillery is England’s oldest whisky distillery. Founded by the Nelstrop family in 2006, The English Distillery built the beautiful St George’s Distillery specifically to make the very finest whiskies. The site is perfectly suited to whisky production, with the county of Norfolk being one of the world’s finest barley growing regions, coupled with the Breckland aquifer which can be found 50ft beneath the distillery providing a plentiful supply of crystal clear water.
Over time, the distillery has grown and today not only are we the oldest and most awarded English distillery, we also mature all of our casks and bottle all of our whisky on site. This ability to keep the entire process from start to finish on our own site enables us to ensure the very highest quality in all of our products. The distillery releases its drinks under two brands. ‘The English’ which is our range of single malt whiskies and ‘The Norfolk’ which consists of our grain whiskies and liqueurs.

Nose:
Light, fresh and fragrant. Sweet, soft, slightly spicy and welcoming. Gentle vanilla, fruity with hints of tropical fruits (lime zest, mango, dried apricots). Fresh cut grass. Slightly nutty with a hint of marzipan. Like a soft whipped vanilla ice cream.
Taste:
Melts on the palate. Smooth but with a with a slight peppery spice tingle on the tongue. Fresh wood and vanilla, again with tropical fruits. Slightly nutty with a long malty finish. Finish is clean, dry and slightly salty.
Fully Matured in a combination of First Fill and Refill Bourbon Casks, Non-Chill Filtered, Natural Ingredients and Hand bottled

The first ever age statement whisky from England.
A perfect example of our hard work over the last 11 years.
Nose:
A complex nose with gentle notes of vanilla and citrus. A subtle herbal note; think mint and sage. Very fruity with hints of baked apple, peach, mango, dried apricots and cherries. A background note of nuts; think almonds. The oak from the casks comes across as clean pencil shavings. Lovely!
Taste:
Sweet and spicy; dry and woody with lovely oak overtones. The fruits come across with the cherries, apples and tropical fruits dominating. A nicely balanced peppery and spicy tingle on the tongue, with a rich, oily and slightly dry finish.
Nose:
Quite sweet and savoury, with a dose of white pepper, smoked ham and peat. Hints
of vanilla, aniseed and ginger cake. Lemon and lime zest.
Taste:
A clean creamy palate with astringent dry oak, the pepper and peat then develop. Light peat initially then a smoke bomb! Again, fruity (think lemon rinds). The vanilla, ginger and aniseed are still there with tropical fruit. The finish is long, spicy and smoky.
Fully matured in a combination of First Fill and Refill Bourbon Casks, Non-Chill Filtered, Natural Ingredients and Hand Bottled. Produced using Peated Barley to a level of around 50PPM.
Awards:
Whiskey Wizards – Gold (2020)
