The latest import from Mexico has hit the soil in the UK – Ojo de Tigre (Tiger’s Eye) is an exceptional new mezcal from the master distillers at Case Lumbre. This smooth but complex spirit is handcrafted and artisanal with the quality and provenance you would expect from Case Lumbre, who also produce Montelobos Mezcal, Ancho Reyes, Abasolo Whisky and Nixta Corn Liqueur.
Ojo de Tigre is made with two varieties of cultivated agaves both 100% sustainably grown from two key agave regions of Mexico. ‘Espadín’ is grown in Oaxaca, the heart of Mexico’s mezcal region and ‘Tobalá’ from the neighbouring state of Puebla.
Acclaimed Mexican film star Luis Gerardo Méndez, is co-founder of Ojo de Tigre. Méndez stars in Netflix’s Spanish-language comedy series, Club de Cuervos and also appeared alongside Jennifer Anniston in Murder Mystery as well as featuring in the 2019 remake of Charlie’s Angels. He is a massive advocate of mezcal and has made it his mission to introduce the historic spirit to a new generation of drinkers.
Ojo de Tigre comes in a unique bottle inspired by historic amulet flasks.

- Description:
- Ojo de Tigre is perfectly paired with sweet, juicy pineapple.
- Ingredients:
- 1.5 oz ODT Joven Mezcal
- 2-3 Slices of Fresh Pineapple or Fresh Orange
- Chile Worm Salt
- Instructions:
- Serve mezcal neat, preferably in an Ojo de Tigre copita. On a separate wooden board, serve fresh pineapple slices and sal de gusano (Oaxacan chile worm salt) to accompany slow sips.
Cocktails:
Tiger Lily
- Description:
- Refreshing with vibrant flavours.
- Ingredients:
- 1.5 oz ODT Joven Mezcal
- 1.5 oz Pineapple Juice
- 2 oz Ginger Beer
- Instructions:
- Build all ingredients over ice in a Highball Glass. Garnish with a pineapple slice or lime.
Ambar
- Description:
- Delicious combination of the richness of Ojo de Tigre Mezcal with sweet tropical flavours and citrus notes.
- Ingredients:
- 1.5 oz ODT Joven Mezcal
- .75 oz Passionfruit syrup
- .50 oz Lime Juice
- Instructions:
- Combine all ingredients and shake well. Serve over ice
Amethyst
- Description:
- A drink of contrasts – warming and flavoursome.
- Ingredients:

- .5 oz Lime Juice
- .75 oz Hibiscus Syrup
- 2 oz Ginger Beer or Ale

- Instructions:
- Add the lemon juice, hibiscus syrup and mezcal in a shaker and shake vigorously. Serve over ice then top with ginger beer. Mix lightly and decorate with lemon wedges and a sprig of rosemary.
Tahiti Pearl
- Description:
- The classic base of Ojo de Tigre Mezcal is optimized with herbal and citrus notes, giving way to an elegantly smooth, unique cocktail.
- Ingredients:
- 1.5 oz ODT Joven Mezcal
- 8-10 mint Leaves
- 1 oz Lime Juice
- 1 oz Simple Syrup
- 2 Dashes Lemon Bitters
- 3 Drops of Olive Oil
- Instructions:
- Place all ingredients except olive oil in a shaker with plenty of ice and give it a good shake. Serve in a cold coupe glass and use a fine strainer to catch stray pieces of leaves. Finish with 3 drops of olive oil on top and decorate with a mint leaf.
