Meaning ‘Harvest’ in Danish, HØST honours the natural beauty of the West Denmark landscape and the season that provides the grains essential to these unique and refined Danish whiskies. A combination of rye and single malt, HØST has been designed as an introduction to the Stauning portfolio with an RSP at £45.
HØST is delicate, smooth and balanced – the perfect sipping whisky for beginners and connoisseurs alike. The innovative whisky is aged in first-fill bourbon and heavily charred new American white oak casks before being finished in first-fill port barrique casks, resulting in a fruit-forward spirit with floral undertones. On the nose, HØST delivers notes of vanilla, beeswax and citrus followed by meadow honey, toffee, apple, and red berries on the palate, with a syrupy cinnamon, oak and subtle spice finish.
Stef Holt, Curator of Mangrove’s World Whisky portfolio, said:
Stauning whiskies have been part of the Mangrove portfolio for many years and have developed a cult following in both on and off trade. It is recognised as a brand that speaks of its origins and its terroir. HØST is a delicious new whisky which is perfect for new drinkers and connoisseurs alike.
For centuries, the cultivation of rye and barley has played a crucial role in the way of life on the West Coast of Denmark. The deep-rooted connection to the land can be seen in the people, places and produce of the region. Stauning creates its whiskies using grain from the fields surrounding the distillery with each grain floor-malted in house – a process that few distilleries in the world still practise. Distillation takes place in 24 small copper pot stills which are direct-fired to create complex flavours, adding weight and character to the whisky.
HØST launches in London on 23 April at Bloomsbury Flowers at 29 Great Queen St, WC2B 5BB and is available to purchase from Master of Malt, The Whisky Exchange and Selfridges.
